Lucas's journey with glass began at nineteen when he was entranced by the beauty and complexity of glasswork. His dedication to the craft led him to become an apprentice and, over time, a master glassmaker. In 2007, an unexpected turn of events brought him to Japan, where a chance encounter with a glass artisan on a train—sparked by a knit hat from an American competition—led to a decade-long collaboration and the establishment of his studio in 2017.

At Hanabi Glass Studio, nestled in the scenic beauty of Kanagawa, Japan, Lucas blends the robust tradition of American Borosilicate glass with a diverse array of techniques to create pens that are writing instruments and pieces of art.
