Tomoe River Paper is a premium Japanese paper renowned for its ultra-thin yet durable quality. Fountain pen users around the world love it because it shows off ink shading, sheen, and color vibrancy like no other paper.

The original Tomoe River Paper was made by Tomoegawa on its legendary No. 7 and No. 9 machines. After Tomoegawa ended production, Sanzen produced a successor version. Many writers note subtle differences in texture and ink behavior, but both are fountain pen friendly.

Sanzen continues to produce its version on a different paper machine, which results in slightly different characteristics compared to the Tomoegawa-made paper, while still remaining fountain pen friendly.
