Taisho Romance Sentimental Fountain Pen Ink Set
The Taisho Romance Sentimental set holds four 12 ml bottles of Teranishi Chemical Industry’s fountain pen ink, boxed as a gift. These are dye inks, so unlike the pigment and glitter inks in the same series they can be filled straight into a pen.
Sentimental gathers the four most saturated colors in the range: Modern Red, a cardinal red, rich rather than flashy, Lady Emerald, a blue green that can show a red-violet sheen, Melancholic Blue, a deep navy with a whisper of sheen, and Innocent Mauve, a gentle violet. Being dye inks they shade, so one nib gives you a lighter tone on a quick stroke and a deeper one where the ink pools at the end of a letter.
The sixteen Taisho Romance colors were released in 2021, when Teranishi marked its 105th anniversary by going back to the writing ink it sold when it opened in Osaka in 1916. The four sets divide those sixteen between them. At 12 ml a bottle this is also the practical way to live with a color for a while before committing to the 40 ml size.
The bottles come in a black box with the Teranishi guitar mark in gold, each one individually wrapped, which makes the set straightforward to give as it is.
