A Japanese notebook featuring “Fuji from Kanaya on the Tokaido Road,” a woodblock print from Katsushika Hokusai’s series “Thirty-six Views of Mount Fuji” (富缳三十六景), created around 1831. The RO-BIKI NOTE by Yamamoto Paper is one of the most acclaimed Japanese stationery series among fountain pen enthusiasts worldwide, known for its distinctive waxed covers and exceptional paper quality. The Museum Series reproduces paintings from collections around the world, each printed on a passport-sized notebook you can carry anywhere.

The cover features Yamamoto Paper’s signature RO-BIKI (wax-coating) technique: kraft paper infused with heated paraffin wax, giving it a soft sheen, gentle water resistance, and a warmth you can feel right away. Over time, the cover develops a unique patina, becoming distinctly yours with use.

The print shows travelers fording the Oi River at Kanaya-juku, one of the fifty-three post stations along the Tokaido, the main highway between Edo (present-day Tokyo) and Kyoto during the Edo period. Mount Fuji rises calmly in the background. Hokusai created “Thirty-six Views of Mount Fuji” in his early seventies, at the height of his career, and the series became one of the most reproduced in the history of Japanese printmaking. The original woodblock print is held in the collection of the Yamanashi Prefectural Museum.
