RO-BIKI Bouquet of Flowers Notebook – Dot Grid

Sale price$12.00 USD

When I first saw this RO-BIKI NOTE from Yamamoto Paper, I immediately felt that Van Gogh’s Bouquet of Flowers in a Vase was a natural fit. This notebook is part of the RO-BIKI NOTE Museum Series, which has quietly built a loyal following among fountain pen users around the world.

The cover uses Yamamoto Paper’s traditional ro-biki technique, where heated paraffin wax is worked into kraft paper by hand. The result is a surface with a soft sheen, gentle water resistance, and a warmth that ordinary covers simply don’t have. What I personally love most is how the cover changes over time. As you carry it every day, the waxed paper creases, softens, and develops character in a way that feels very honest and very human.

Van Gogh painted this still life in 1890, the final and most productive year of his life. His bold brushwork and vivid use of colour are instantly recognisable. Printed on a waxed surface that continues to age and shift with use, the image doesn’t feel fixed or static. It feels like it’s living alongside you, rather than sitting untouched on the page.

At 3.5" × 4.9", the notebook is compact enough to slip easily into a pocket or bag, which makes it something you actually carry, not just admire. Inside, Yamamoto Paper’s Soliste paper has a warm ivory tone and a smooth surface that works beautifully with fountain pens, ballpoints, and pencils. The dot grid layout adds gentle structure while leaving plenty of freedom for writing or sketching.

Yamamoto Paper — Preserving the Joy of Paper for the Future

Based in Sakai, Osaka, Yamamoto Paper was founded in 1972 as a paper specialist. Drawing on decades of experience connecting paper manufacturers with end users, they now design and produce their own original stationery. At the heart of their work is a belief in “sharing the joy and warmth of paper with confidence for generations to come.”

Rather than simply selling beautiful paper, Yamamoto Paper values delivering the full character of each sheet—its writing feel, texture, and the way it changes over time. They are also known as “custodians” of paper culture, reviving legendary papers that have gone out of production and passing them on to the next generation.

What makes Yamamoto Paper especially beloved is their balance of craftsmanship and playfulness. Their Paper Tasting series, for example, lets you sample different types of paper as if you were tasting wine, turning the exploration of paper into a delightful experience. It’s this combination of uncompromising quality and creative spirit that has earned them loyal fans among stationery lovers and fountain pen enthusiasts around the world.
