The Paper Tasting Writing Pad Set – Egg Shell vol.4 focuses on lightly textured Japanese papers that give subtle tactile feedback as you write. Each of the three included pads (25 sheets each) carries its own story of development, showing how Japanese paper blends practicality, creativity, and cultural background. The set also includes a short insert card sharing a piece of paper knowledge, such as what paper grain is or where standard paper sizes come from.
Slight (B7) – Produced at Hokuetsu Corporation's Nagaoka Mill, Slight was developed for expressiveness and writing comfort with colored pencils and other drawing materials, and today it is used in some adult coloring books. It offers strength together with a subtle tooth for an enjoyable artistic feel.
Meringue (A6) – A high-bulk book paper that combines thickness, lightness, a moderate stiffness, and a high whiteness. Developed for the publishing industry to make books lighter, it gives a comfortable, firm-yet-cushioned feel under the pen.
Soliste (B6) – Made at Chuetsu Pulp & Paper's Sendai Mill, Soliste is a bulky book paper that resists fading, first released in 2002 for publishers who wanted books to feel substantial even with fewer pages. Its name carries a wish that writers and artists express themselves freely, and its natural cream tone is easy on the eyes.
Everyone has their own preferences when it comes to paper, and even the same sheet feels different depending on the nib or tip of a pen. Exploring how these lightly textured writing pads respond to different tools is one of the true joys of writing. The Paper Tasting Writing Pad Set series is designed to satisfy that curiosity, an engaging way to compare, discover, and celebrate the diversity of Japanese paper stationery.
