The Midori MD Paper Pad Cotton is a blank writing pad, available in A4 and A5, made with MD PAPER Cotton, a paper blended from 20% cotton pulp and 80% wood pulp for a softer, more cushioned writing surface than standard MD paper. It holds 90 sheets of 75 gsm paper with no ruling at all, an open expanse that reflects MD PRODUCT's idea of yohaku, the blank space that gives you room to face your own thoughts. The cotton stock reads whiter and brighter than the cream of standard MD paper, with less of the green undertone, so ink colors sit clearly on the page.

For fountain pen users, the appeal of the cotton blend is in the touch. The longer, narrower cotton fibers give the surface a faint tooth and a gentle resistance that cushions the nib and forgives a heavy hand, though it also draws a noticeably wider line than standard MD and softens the sheen and shading that vivid inks can show on less absorbent stock. Feathering is essentially absent and dry time sits in the medium range. Worth knowing before you fill a page: with heavy ink loads from a rollerball or a broad nib, the cotton shows more ghosting and minor bleed-through than standard MD, so it suits single-sided writing better than dense double-sided work.

The binding is built for writing anywhere. Glued along the top and one side over a firm cardstock backing board, the pad stays flat in either portrait or landscape, so you can write single-handed without a desk under it, and a 45-degree notch at the unglued corner marks where to lift a clean sheet. The paper itself is sturdy enough to tear off and feed through a typewriter, and graphite catches beautifully on the slightly textured surface, which makes this a natural pad for sketching and mixed-media notes alongside fountain pen work.
