Midori MD Paper Pad (A4 / A5)

The Midori MD Paper Pad is a glue-bound blank writing pad, available in A4 and A5, built around the same in-house MD paper that fountain pen users have trusted for decades, with a firm backing board that lets you write anywhere without a desk. It holds 90 sheets of 80 gsm cream, ivory paper with a faint green undertone and no optical brighteners, and the blank format reflects MD PRODUCT's idea of yohaku, the blank space that leaves room for your own thoughts rather than imposing lines on them.

With wet fountain pen ink it does what MD is known for. Feathering is almost absent in normal use and bleed-through stays minimal, while show-through is low enough to use both sides for everyday notes. Inks keep good shading and a pleasant degree of sheen, and because the surface is more absorbent than many European writing papers it dries faster than many competitor sheets, with a smooth, very lightly toothed finish that holds a clean line from fine to broad nibs.

What sets the pad apart is the binding: the sheets are glued along the top and one side over a thick backing board, so the block stays flat in portrait or landscape and holds steady for single-handed writing when you are standing, traveling, or away from a desk. A 45-degree notch at the unglued corner marks where to lift a clean sheet. Made in Japan.
