Helix Peacock Glass Dip Pen with Pen Rest

The Helix Peacock Glass Dip Pen is a handcrafted Japanese glass dip pen from Gabi Kobo, built on clear glass that holds a lattice of teal and gold with white spirals laid over the top. Held up to the light the two patterns read separately, one through the other, the way leading and glass read separately in a stained glass panel.

The lattice and the spirals are worked onto the surface of the clear glass, so the light catches them directly. Turn the pen under a lamp and the pattern brightens along whichever side faces it, which is what gives depth to an otherwise colourless barrel.

Tomoya is a young artisan who came to glass through a beginner's kit he found in a department store, started out of curiosity and taught himself from there.

A pen rest of two fused glass spheres comes with it, patterned on the surface to match the barrel and shaped to hold the wet nib clear of the paper. Use it with Japanese dip pen inks, and rinse the nib in water between colours.
