Who We Are

Hi, We're Taka and Sayuri, owner of Komorebi Stationery!

We are a Japan-based store dedicated to making your desk time more fun with stationery imbued with Japanese tradition and artisanship.

Japan has produced very high-quality stationery in a highly competitive environment, with major stationery manufacturers such as Pilot, Sailor, and Platinum. And in fact, many of those manufacturers are small businesses, with many companies not selling overseas. We put their extremely attractive stationeries in the spotlight and bring you products you can't buy anywhere else.

In Japan, there is a word 'Komorebi（木漏れ日）' that cannot be translated into English. This word describes how the sunlight shining through between leaves creates beautiful patterns of shadow and light.
We believe it is important to cherish the sensitivity and inspiration we feel from such casual scenes, and to make room in our lives for these feelings in order to improve the quality of our lives. That is why we named our store Komorebi Stationery.

Why we do this

We see supporting Japanese traditions and small artisan businesses as a life challenge, aiming to bring joy worldwide. In 2020, I founded a company selling traditional Japanese tableware internationally, growing it into one of the world's largest stores in its category.

Now, we're applying that experience and expertise to another passion of mine and my wife's - stationery - as we embark on this new adventure.
